Convert 2008 solution to 2010 becomes unavailable no error message seems sucessful at first

I don't have access to Visual studio 2008, but need to open them in visual studio 2010.

2010 tries to open , then convert them. The conversion itself does not indicate any problems, but afterwards not one of the older 2008 projects files can accessed in 2010.

What I do In 2010

File > open project / solution

Choose a file with SLN extention

Conversion wizard pops up

Then in the project / solution explorer , I can see "unavailable" next to the solution name.

And nothing works.

How to convert without problems??
