We are currently subscribed to a Microsoft Action Pack development and Design and this expires on 15/02/2015. I know this includes licences but Its not totally clear on the Microsoft website what we are entititled to and so I need some assistance confirming this.
I have completed a quick audit of what we are using so need to ensure we have sufficient licenses. I need to establish if I need to buy any more licences.
Windows OS (Most were purchased with the PCs so are covered with OEM licences)
Windows Server
Domain controller
Small business server 2008
2 x Windows Server 2003
SQL server 2005 & 2008
Microsoft office pro 2010 x 15
office 2003 x 2
Visual studio 0 we use 5 licences
3 x visual studi pro I beleive are part of the MSDN action pack
2 x Visual studio pro with MSDN software assurance open value licence were purchased through a software company.
We originally purchased the following:
- MSDN subscription with Visual Studio Ultimate – this entitles you to use any versions of MS products. We bought 1 of these
- Action Pack Design and Development. This includes 3 versions of Visual Studio
When the renewal was due for the MSDN Visual Studio Ultimate, we realised the pricing was very high as we also needed 2 copies. We then change to the VS Professional with MSDN. This includes Software Assurance and we still have this – these 2 licenses have just been renewed through a software company. That covers the 2 licenses and I think this is ok.
I therefore think if we upgrade all 5 users to VS2013, the current licenses we have are ok. 2 of the licenses allow the older versions to be used so will allow us to keep older VS versions running on 2 PCs.
Would be good if you could confirm this is correct. Based on the spread sheet, I suspect we are in the same position with Office i.e. we should be using latest versions from Action Pack as older versions are only available with an Ultimate subscription. We therefore need to know how many licenses we have from the Action Pack so we can work out how many more we would need to purchase.
Can you guys help me?
