Visual Studio 2008 - lost debug toolbar

Hi all,

I opened up Visual Studio 2008 today to find the debug options (i.e. Run solution - F5) not present. F5 doesn't work to run the solution.

I've already scoured the internet for various occurances of this error and tried all resolutions to no effect, such as the following:

  1. Reset all settings from 'Import / export' tools option
  2. Run VS cmd prompt and run devenv /setup and devenv /resetsettings and devenv /resetskippkgs

View / Toolbars has no Debug present. Resetting the 'Standard' toolbar presents nothing either in terms of the nice green 'play' button i'm used to!

The only thing I recently remember doing was uninstalling Visual Web Developer 2010.

Another strange occurance is that on the start page, where recent projects are shown; .sln files no longer have an icon (they have the standard Windows 'I don't recognise this file' icon). The solution still opens, but it's just another strange addition to the situation.

I've since tried re-installing Visual web Developer (although some aspects of the installation failed), and this hasn't worked either.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
