I'm getting back to coding after many years away, and I'm starting with VS 2015. Just wanting to try VS, I created a C# app for Windows Forms. Just the main window, in which I put a button and a textbox. On button push, text appears in the textbox. When
I debug it, it works fine, runs, does what it should, and closes fine. But when I run it without debugging, or I build a release or debug version and run it from Windows Explorer (outside VS), very strange things happen. No window appears. If I run it without
debugging in VS, VS clocks forevee. In both cases (from inside & outside VS), the task manager shows 3 instances of the program, and I'm unable to kill the tasks, either from Windows Task Manager, or from Process Explorer. Thanks.

Chaning C++ Text Editor Color Coding back to normal
I want to use Visual Studio 2015 and see black text, like 2012 has it. For a C++ project in VS 2015, I create a new code file and type #include. That text is gray. I thought #include it was blue before? I prefer my color coding to remain the same as it was. MS keeps changing things and I have to learn yet another new thing. Then I have to think about color coding when I want to think about what I'm doing, the code that I write, not text color coding.
To put this back to what I'm used to for C++ projects (default of VS 2012) I went to Tools->Options->Environment->Fonts and Colors. I selected Text Editor settings and set Foreground color to black. I'll take all black text over new color coding any day. The setting did not take. #include is still gray.
How can I fix this?

Open exe as a project for debugging
I am aware of the possibility of opening an exe file as a project, then open a bunch of source code files (e.g. .cs).
This works fine and is a lifesaver in certain scenarios (e.g. using VS2010 for debugging .net 4.0 applications built with VS2015 running on an XP machine).
I am just so tired of opening the files every session, is it possible to create a workspace or similar to keep my associations and file references ?

Visual Studio Crashes on opening Data Sources window
I have this very weird problem
When I select my project in the solutions explorer and i then open up the data sources and i can see all my data sources
When i then open up any form the datasources list goes away and my visual studio crashes

Issue with NuGet Package restore in ASPNET5
HI
I have my own NuGet Package for MVC6 which is placed in %userprofile%\.dnx folder. I have added that NuGet entry in Project. JSON file. But the package did not get restore under the following situation.
From Visual Studio Tools->NuGet Package Manager->Package Manager Settings->Package Sources if any of the avialble package sources is checked (even nuget.org) the package restore of my NuGet package get failed.
If all the available sources are disabled(unchecked), package get restored properly.
Please any one help me on this

Web Design Approach
I am looking for the best way to design this type of screen in VS 2015 for the Web. It displays a list of parts, multiple lines for each part, and the user can enter a quantity. 10 lines are displayed, each taking 2 lines to display, and the user can enter a quantity for 1 or all parts then hits Add To Cart button. I've tried different controls but haven't found the right one just yet.

Help content get lost (System.Linq Namespace) after update.
I use Microsoft Help Viewer 2.0 with Microsoft Visual Studio 2012.
Suddenly, I discovered, that I can't see any local help content for the System.Linq namespace of the .NET 4.5 (and 4.6) after the latest Help Content updates. For instance, there is nothing to unflod in theSystem.Linq Namespace after navigating to the Contents tab and then unfolding.NET Framework 4.5, .NET Framework Class Library, and thenSystem.Linq Namespaces. Moreover, trying to get help for Enumerable.Aggregate, for instance, leads to the Windows Phone OS page instead of the desktop .NET help page.
It seems that all the desktop documentation for the System.Linq is missing.
There are some details below. Sorry for my bad English.
My system is Microsoft Windows 7 Pro SP1 x64 ru-RU, Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 Update 5 en-US, Microsoft Help Viewer 2.0 en-US content.
I considered three versions of the desktop Help Content (.NET Framework 4.5 (and 4.6) book):
- from the official iso VS2012Documentation.iso, dated 09/19/2012 03:52:50.
- an intermediate update dated 05/17/2014 04:39:41.
- the latest update dated 08/07/2015 15:15:29.
Here are screenshots of the System.Linq namespace page pointed on the Contents tab.

It's all right here, everything is in place.

We see here that the System.Linq page looks like it should, but the System.Linq node on the Contents tab is broken: there are no subnodes there.

Things get even worse here: the System.Linq page looks truncated.
This affects the Index tab too. Here is the search of the "Average" word in the Index:

We see that System.Linq + .NET 4.5 topics are lost.
So the question is: How to get them back updated?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
P.S. In addition, htm files for the System.Linq Namespace page were found for each Help Content variants I have. Here are their locations, names and sizes:
1. R4918.htm in the V2VISUAL_STUDIO_2011_NET_FRAMEWORK_45_B916_VS_110_EN-US_5.1.mshc, 27472 bytes.
2. R6425.htm in the V2VISUAL_STUDIO_2011_NET_FRAMEWORK_45_B916_VS_110_EN-US_5.3.mshc, 32904 bytes.

Using Ccur() in a VB.net 2013 not found
I am on converting a VB6 WinForms app to VB.net and I have some code where I am using:
Ccur(mystring) > 0
I am finding that Ccur doesn't exist in VB.net. So where does that leave me with options?

Visual Studio freezes when i try to compile
Hello guys,
I have got some issues with Visual Studio Enterprise. When i try to compile a program (code is ok), it freezes and thats it.
VS starts building a project but even if it says that build is compleated, the program is not responding.
I dont really know what else to say. Just ask.
BTW grammar nazies- im sorry for my language, im just not used to speak english.

Missing Folders / Files / Add Item Options in Shared project
I'm running into weird issues in Shared project types:
- XAML files are missing and are not properly associated with .cs files
- Some folders are not showing at all
- When selecting "Add New Item", I only see generic text file options (e.g. no UserControl)
I tried re-installing Visual Studio, re-creating the Shared project, uninstalling / disabling ReSharper with no luck.
I can only see the items if I click on "Show All Files". If I select "Include In Project", the .projitems file gets modified with a new ItemGroup and items named "None" that causes problems with other team members (who by the way are NOT running into the same issue when opening the same solution).
I tried opening the solution on a different machine under the same account, same results.
Solution builds correctly, but is increasingly difficult to maintain. This is literally driving me nuts right now.

Setup uwp offline
I am trying to setup visual studio to make uwp on a offline computer(well most of the time)
I have installed visual studio community 2015 update 1 use the iso
I have download the sdk on online pc and installed then on the offline computer and yet I still missing stuff to make uwp.
I have do have limited bandwidth over 3G which i am willing to use to register my devices for app development, but not for download files.

VS 2015 on Windows 10 Freezes often after build
Hey,
Since i'm using windows 10 and upgraded to VS 2015, my visual studio often freezes randomly after build which results in a total restart of my computer as only solution. I've tried to install 2013 again to use that version instead. But when i create a new project, it freezes even before i can type some code into it.
In windows 8 in combination with VS 2013 i never had this problem.
Is there any way to solve these bugs? Has anyone yet had this problem too?
Is there some software i'm maybe missing? Should i reset to windows 8?

Is Mobile developement in VS2015 Community free?
Hello,
I installed vs2015 community and try to start developing android application. I just wanted to make an application with a simpleRecyclerView at developer.xamarin.com. (which VS suggested while I start to create a new Android projects.)But when I build my project returns an error that when I search it in the web Its means was I must purchase Xamarin studio!
I had not used any 3th party plugin or any other thing, just followed the above sample.

Visual Studio 2015 Freeze
Hi everyone,
I am a C# developer. I used to use the Visual Studio Enterprise 2015 on my Windows 7 to code and design the webpage. However, it seems to me that the Visual Studio will freeze when I switch to design view. I did uninstall the Visual Studio and installed again. It works fine for a day and it goes back to "freeze mode" again.
Anyone who has the same experience? Please drop me a line.

Cross Platform Mobile Development - Sharing Code Between Platforms
So I'm planning on making an app for Windows (UWP) and Android, and I've been searching around for different resources on the best ways of doing it in VS2015.
So far it seems you create a solution with a project for the Windows specific code, a project for the Android specific code and a project for the cross platform code. The only problem is that they seem to be using a template called "Dynamic Shared Library (Cross Platform)" but I can't seem to find that template anymore, the closest I get is "Dynamic Shared Library (Android).
What's the best way of going about writing as much of my code cross platform as possible?

VS2015 crash requires two restarts
I have a problem where VS2015 locks up on me quite frequently (3-4 times per day) and requires me to kill the process via Task Manager and restart it. Once I restart, though, I can't compile. The error I get is:

I've never seen this kind of behavior (being unable to compile after a crash/restart) in past versions, but it's been a problem since I upgraded to VS2015.
Can anyone give me insight on 1) how to stop this need to restart the application twice and, better 2) how to track down the cause of the freezes? In order to stave off the "remove all plugins and re-add them one by one until the problem recurs" answer, I can't afford to spend days in debugging this issue. Ideally, I'd like to have a diagnostic/logging tool or procedure available that might either point out the issue or at least give enough information that I can put in a support ticket to get further help.
