Error in compiling: SignTool Error: No certificates were found that met all the given criteria.

I am moving from Visual Studio 2013 to Visual Studio 2017 (community). I have a couple of programs I developed in 2013 and have tried compile them in 2017 and get the following error:

SignTool Error: No certificates were found that met all the given criteria.

These would compile no problem in 2013 so what am I doing wrong?

Hi Folks,

I am using Asp.net Core 3 with Angular and Docker Windows Container.

I followed as below:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/visualstudio/containers/container-tools-react?view=vs-2019#modify-the-dockerfile-windows-containers

I build and run Docker. It seems good. Now I have created docker compose.

Docker-compose.yml

version: '3.4'
services:
hardwareresources:
image: ${DOCKER_REGISTRY-}hardwareresources
build:
context: .
dockerfile: HardwareResources\Dockerfile

I run Docker compose and I am getting error pop up message and it says:

Capture

Could you please advise how to resolve this issue?

Thanks

Need to use existing sql server db, need to use own sql, not datagrids. Please help me how to get this done!

MDI Forms in Core 3

I am developing an application using Windows Forms Core 3.0, and importing a MDI form item into my application.

The MDI form Visual Studio 2019 does not appear in the IDE design view.

Is there an issue Visual Studio 2019 IDE or is Microsoft is limiting support for MDI forms in Core 3?

When making an new applications what type Forms format does Microsoft recommends, Windows Forms or WPF.

For WPF what does Microsoft recommends to take the place of MDI (Tabs maybe)?

Thank you

Visual Studio cannot build because dotnet.exe is locking files

$

After I run my solution, especially when debugging it, then stop the execution, several DLLs get locked by the dotnet.exe process, causing subsequent build to fail (because solution cannot be cleaned).

Also, locked DLLs cannot be deleted manually, and dotnet.exe process cannot be killed (access denied error even with admin rights). This condition persist even after a log off. Restarting the machine solves the issue only temporarily.

Extra info: I'm using Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, Visual Studio Enterprise 2017, .NetCore 2.1.

How to access centralized script from build/release step (VSTFS 2018)

$

I have a set of scripts that are used during the build and release process. Today, those scripts are copied from the Resources git repository in VSTFS to every agent (we have 40 agents in vstfs). In order to avoid that amount of copies, we would like to keep those files centralized in the git repository and just configure the build and release tasks to directly access the scripts, avoiding the copy. How can I get to this?

The repository where scripts reside looks like…

The build task of one of the applications look like the one below. $(ScriptsLocation) is currently a local path in the agent. I tried to initialize that variable to be the url to the git repository in tfs, something like http://servertools02:XXXX/tfs/DefaultCollection/TFS.Resources/_git/Resources?path=%2FScripts&version=GBmaster, but didn´t work.

Thanks in advance,

Paola

Cannot build console application with Microsoft Visual Studio 2019

$

I just installed the community version of VS 2019. I selected to build a console application that it created for me ("hello world" program). The file created is called ConsoleApplication1.cpp. I went to the build menu, selected build, and get the following error:

1>------ Build started: Project: ConsoleApplication1, Configuration: Debug Win32 ------

1>C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio\2019\Community\MSBuild\Microsoft\VC\v160\Microsoft.CppBuild.targets(441,5): warning MSB8003: The WindowsSDKDir property is not defined. Some build tools may not be found.

1>ConsoleApplication1.cpp

1>C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio\2019\Community\VC\Tools\MSVC\14.24.28314\include\yvals.h(12,10): fatal error C1083: Cannot open include file: 'crtdbg.h': No such file or directory

1>Done building project "ConsoleApplication1.vcxproj" -- FAILED.

I tried to follow directions I saw on stackexchange. When I select "Project -> Properties" the Windows SDK field is blank. A value I typed in from another StackExchange message creates an error that that version of the SDK cannot be found. So I made the SDK field blank again. I also tried using "10.0", but that did nothing.

Perhaps I did not install all the needed components. I recently checked off: "Windows Universal CRT SDK" (as per something I saw on stackexchange), but the build still fails. The warning is interesting. I looked that up also but have not found a solution that works. My "Platform Toolset" is Visual Studio 2019 (v142).

What might still be missing to build a console application? Thank you. I am working on Windows 7.

General Setup Issue

Hello,

I have just recently downloaded Visual Studio Code, only to find that I'm in over my head...

I followed the steps from "Getting Started With C++ & Minw-w64 in Visual Studio Code" from the VSCode website:

(  LINK: https://code.visualstudio.com/docs/cpp/config-mingw  )

Once completing the steps, I tried to run a simple C program:

#include <stdio.h>
int main() {
    printf("hi");

    return 0;
}

Only to find out that my attempts are in vain! It could not compile due to these errors:

--------------------------------------------------------------------

> Executing task: g++ -g -o Test Test.cpp <           // Test.cpp ---> name of workspace file

g++.exe: error: Test.cpp: No such file or directory
g++.exe: fatal error: no input files
compilation terminated.
The terminal process terminated with exit code: 1

--------------------------------------------------------------------

I've tried refining the process multiple times, paying more attention as I do each step.

I've even tried to move the Test folder into the Compiler Path:  C:\\MING\bin\ and that

didn't work either. I'm not sure how to proceed. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

How do I type a relative path for the Documents folder for any computer?

$

I recently setup a git repository to sync my code between my pc and my laptop and I successfully pulled up the code on my laptop but the includes are all wrong because the libraries I included were stored in the Documents folder. This is a problem because my PC uses B:/Documents and my laptop uses something like C:/Users/.../Onedrive/Documents. How do I tell Visual Studio to find the current computers Documents folder no matter what location is defined for that specific computer.

error MSB3030: Could not copy the file "" because it was not found. in VS 2019 with build Version 16.4.1

$

I get the error

error MSB3030: Could not copy the file "The full name of the resource" because it was not found.

When I try to compile a UWP dll that reference another UWP DLL that has a shared project reference that has a resource that is marked as “Content” in the build action

This did not happen in any prior versions prior to Version 16.4.1 of VS 2019

And the library does compile with no errors if I use MSBUILD from the command line.

So, the error only occurs in the IDE and only started with Version 16.4.1 of VS2019.

Any ideas or help or is this a bug?  I am  surly cannot be the only one seeing this.

I have removed and reinstalled the IDE a couple of times and tested in a VM and only see this error in the IDE. MSBUILD works from the command line.

Unfortunately, I cannot debug outside the IDE.

The scenario is as follows

  1.       Project A is a “Shared” project that has a folder called “Content” that is holding an Image. The Image has built action as “Content”
  2.       A UWP DLL project (call it B) reference the shared project A
  3.       Another UWP DLL (call it C) reference project B.
  4.       When I compile C, I see the error.

Any other project in my solution that does not use a resource that has the build action as “Content” compiles fine. It is only when one DLL reference another that has “Content”

If I compile in the IDE, the folder “Content” get created but is empty.

If I compile using MSBUILD from the command line, the “Content” folder does have the Image.

I have killed 3 days on this and still cannot get it resolved. Is this a bug in build 16.4.1???

Help.

Deploying the converted R-CNN Detector from MATLAB to ONNX to raspberry

I am looking for your assistance. In fact I am working on a project using R-CNN detector (Regional convolutional neural network) for object detection. I created the detector and trained by MATLAB and tested and it works fine however when I come to the stage to test it and deploy it to raspberry, the MATLAB does not support the deployment of this detector to hardware. I saw many resources that it can be converted to ONNX format. I have already converted the MATLAB file to ONNX file and now I am looking for the steps to use this onnx file and deploy to raspi, therefore, I am looking for your support to deploy the pre-trained detector<o:p></o:p>

Debugging a TypeScript-only SDK-style project

$

Hi all,

I have a project that is a SPA that runs entirely in the browser. It only needs a web server to serve its files. It does not talk back to the server in any way or fashion. It's 100% HTML and TypeScript, and does not actually use any .NET.

So far, I have used a "website" .csproj to do this. In order to debug the application, I would right-click on an HTML file, "set as startup page", and hit F5. VS would start an IIS instance, serve the page, and all was well.

Now, I want to switch this project to the new SDK-style project format.

I am trying to use Microsoft.NET.Sdk.Web as the SDK. The project builds, but I can't debug it. If I try, I get a "RunCommand property is not defined". I don't have any way to set the startup page either.

Overall, I have the impression that I just can't use SDK-style projects for a "website" type project. What SDK should be used, and what properties or settings, to be able to have VS start IIS and serve a page when I start debug?

These are the relevant bits of my .csproj. Note that I've set OutputType to Library because otherwise csc would complain about not having a main.
